Searched good news on FB. Only a few big pages for positive stories. Thats frightening. I bet I could search a bunch of bizarre key words and find bigger networks. Its no wonder this world is in shambles when the majority of our media focuses merely on the negative. Why would anyone care to help humanity when they are constantly viewing stories that reinforces the idea that humans sucks? Things will improve real quick if we stop fearing one another and start working together as a collective of people. A stranger is just a conversation away from a friend. Bet you can find something in common with anyone if you try hard enough. Humans are good. Not all of them, but many. Every one is different. Some dont care about the same things you do, or that I do, or they may have differing opinions, but theyre still good-- theyre (generally) not violent maniacs. Who cares what someone else thinks if they arent hurting anyone else. Killer, killer, killer. This guys a killer! Fear, fear, fear! What about the countless people who saved someones life this week, be it from a friendly conversation to draw someone out of manic depression and potential suicide, or helping to get them medical assistance when they almost overdosed? What about the people who got their friend out of a household of domestic abuse? What about the families who took in a foster child or adopted a child who needed nothing more than love, and received it! How about that sweet man on FB who found a stranded cat out in the cold and asked his friends locally to help him find placement for it (really happened today, btw). What about the folks who all came together and raised funds to help a family who lost their job(s), but thanks to friends, not their home. What about the hundreds of thousands of people who shared an article or status update about a missing person, who was then recognized and located? What about them? These things happen every single day, just like murder and crime--- except the positive incidents are far more prevalent, theyre just not nearly as sensationalized because good news doesnt sell. But, what if it did? Imagine the shift in the collective if positivity was the media norm. Imagine if we saw each other as human beings and worked together and embraced that which we inevitably have in common instead of dividing ourselves due to our differences. Imagine if our network of help extended far beyond close friends and family and in all instances, included perfect strangers. I would bet all that I have that in doing so, there would be less crime TO talk about.
