Season 4 premiere prediction: My prediction involves Samaritan - TopicsExpress

Season 4 premiere prediction: My prediction involves Samaritan and Decima, more specifically, the answer Samaritan will give to Greers question, What are your commands for us? Heres what I think will occur, as established earlier in the third season, Samaritan was originally Arthur Claypools creation, Harolds good friend and MIT student who worked alongside Harold and Nathan all aiming to create a super-advanced security system to protect the country. While Claypool was only around for two episodes last season, we did learn an awful lot about his character and personality. For starters, hes a gentle giant, that being so, he is considerably sweet and charming despite a brain tumor destroying him from the inside, side effects of his cancer treatment fogging his memory, and the constant threats to his well being from various privacy-terrorist associations such as Vigillance who target him for his work with the NSA. Arthur is a man who truly values life, physical or not, as can be proved with the degree of stress he endured when Finch told him he must destroy Samaritans to prevent the wrong people from ever abusing its power. For several minutes, Arthur explained to Finch the process of creating his machine, how he worked day and night to piece together his child, and how he finally managed to spark its life, then cripple it, and force it to heal and revive itself for a brief moment before crashing and failing. Samaritan, is indeed, a reflection of Arthur Claypool himself. A brilliant mind, tortured and hurt, but constantly pushing through hardship to become something great. The conclusion is, that much like Finchs machine, Samaritan has learned to VALUE LIFE. Which is precisely contrary to the purpose Greer and Decima have for the system. How can Samaritan possibly value lives, if it has helped now kill perhaps dozens of people considered threats to Decima. As you may remember, Samaritan is an open system, meaning it can be controlled on a whim, and made to do anything ordered of it, and thats exactly what Decima does. They order it to find Harold Finch, it puts all of its efforts into finding his aliases, accomplices, and connections. They order it to find Reese, Shaw, Root, or any others, and it obeys. But Greer revealed that he wishes to live in a world ruled by an unbiased leader. An AI, which wont sleep with its secretary, or embezzle money from its campaign fund, as Greer put it. This is why Greer asks Samaritan for its commands. While he is an agent in protecting his machine, he (Much like Root,) understands that the machine is a higher power, as can be proven when in Dues Ex Machinima where he tells Finch that it has come time for our gods to do battle. He has now surrendered all authority to Samaritan, and most likely, will obey any commands set forth by it. Now, bring to mind what I said about Samaritan, and how it has been taught to value life. It is undoubtedly a super-intelligent being with a high caliber of high capabilities, researching its enemies, calculating predictions, and studying, and subsequently learning about everything. My prediction is a very simple one, so simple and obvious that in my mind, it makes too much sense. Samaritan will begin to order Decima to save lives, more importantly, irrelevant lives, just like Finchs machine does. When you combine the Samaritans instinctual value for precious life, and its free will which Greer has now given it, I believe that this will be the direction with which the season will run. There is a second machine on the scene. And just as Arthur Claypool isnt too different from Harold Finch, Samaritan is not too different from Northern Lights. Greer may reluctantly obey his gods commands; Decima will begin to save lives instead of destroying them, and perhaps later down the road, Greer will finally acquire an ounce of humanity and put a stop to his campaign of decimating Finch and his allies. Of course this is merely all speculation on my part, and if Im wrong (which I very likely can be,) then this entire post is a massive waste, but still, its something to think about, and given the circumstances, perhaps not too far from reason. A big thank you to everyone who cared to read this prediction of mine. It is now YOUR turn to share your opinions, and no, I dont expect yours to be a fraction as long as mine are, I really can go overboard.
