Seasonal allergies- Kitchen Prescription 1) Eat foods that are lighter to digest, warm in nature, 2) Limit the quantity of food that you eat, do not overeat…as it will only increase the symptoms 3) Use sunflower oil for cooking, in less quantities when required, mustard and peanut oils are best avoided 4) Chew your food well, so that your stomach has less load 5) Avoid eating cold, frozen, and greasy foods, fried foods,cheese, yogurt, iced drinks, ice creams, dairy products, bread, white rice, ,wheat, peanuts,tofu,avocado, banana, dark meat, seafood, and excess sugar, and salt… as this will only increase congestion. 6) Add cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper to your food while cooking… as they help in stimulating digestion, and thus reduce congestion, Believe it or not, but these three are just wonderfull herbs from our kitchen, which comes to our rescue `n ‘ number of times… 7) Warming spices like Ginger goes well into a hot cup of tea, Ginger has always been a super powerfull weapon to fight against congestion. 8) Lets not forget our very own Tulsi,turmeric, both of them help in reducing the symptoms associated with allergies ,and they are also known as internal healers…they help heal your body from inside out, You can add them in food, tea etc 9) A pinch of turmeric in a teaspoon of honey three times daily will help with the symptoms of seasonal allergies. 10) Inhale medicated vapor made with water, basil leaves(tulsi).,twice daily 11) Grains to eat- grains that are particularly ideal in such conditions are rye (not grown in india), millet, buckwheat,amaranth, dry or popped grains, 12) Eat roasted gram (bhuna chana).. proven remedy to deal with congestion associated with seasonal allergies Pranayam (breathing exercises) and yoga are very much beneficial in treatment of seasonal allergies, it provides the body with oxygen and cleanse it of carbon dioxide and other toxins.
