Season’s Greetings from the President of the Old Boys’ - TopicsExpress

Season’s Greetings from the President of the Old Boys’ Association: At the AGM of the RCOBA, in August of this year, I was accorded the honour and privilege of being appointed to the role of President. The Association has been kept afloat for a long time through the tireless commitment of just a very small group of our members, and their efforts have provided adequate inspiration to me to take on the challenge of guiding the work of the Association. More than ever, healthy communities are those that thrive on being connected to, interested in and supportive of their members. To this end, I see the role of the RCOBA should be to support Old Boys to: • Re-connect with each other and the school. • Contribute to the financial well-being of the school. • Offer their skills, expertise and knowledge to the school’s learning, leadership, sporting and cultural programmes. • Build and maintain social and business networks for the benefit of the school and its community. • Attend Old Boys’ functions and school events. Over the next 12 months I hope the Association can begin to engage with our members in practical and productive ways which add value and meaning to the relationship we all have with Rongotai College. In order to effectively facilitate this process the Committee is focussed on building a website through which Old Boys can access archives of the school magazine, audio-visual content, find out about events and opportunities to re-connect with their school-mates, and to provide assistance to the college in a variety of ways. One of our greatest strengths at Rongotai is our willingness to work together to achieve our goals. It is not always a single contribution that determines our success but rather the sum of our individual efforts which creates the powerful, lasting energy we all know as the Rongotai spirit. The Association Committee - Colin Carr (1958-62), Ben Irving (1999-2003), Arie Moore (2000-04) and Alex Merci (2004-08) – is looking forward to meeting and consulting with groups of Old Boys, to tap into and nurture the legacy of that spirit and to build a proud and powerful relationship between our alumni and our college. Very best wishes Matt Eagle (1976-80) President RCOBA
