Season’s Pass and Time Marches On I could hear the fox’s - TopicsExpress

Season’s Pass and Time Marches On I could hear the fox’s steps on the second terrace long before he ever traversed the meadow. That was early to mid-June. On the warmer nights, the sound of croakers in the farm pond across the way filtered into the meadow as well. July the crickets cautiously hummed. I could still hear an owl and it didn’t affect the bats. July into August – The katydid chorus, though rhythmic, is Deafening! After an “old-fashioned” Winter, I could hardly wait for Spring to burst through and sprinkle a bit of color amongst the gloom. Alas, Spring has come and gone and “Summer” (such as it is) seems ready to prematurely give way to Fall. Or should I say Autumn ? I do like the attendant visual element that the term “Fall” lends to the season. The reason I put quotation marks around “Summer” is that it’s been an odd one and not just in the Northeast, it would appear. August weather in June and now September weather in August … seems like someone’s fiddlin’ with the knobs up there. Knock it off, please! In Other News: - The eldest son is off to University next Sunday (24th) to pursue a nursing degree. - Anyone else digging the new Robert Plant tune, “Rainbow?” Link below: https://youtube/watch?v=F3L0EUbRJGk&feature=share Oh: Someone left a big sack o’ tomatoes in the lunch room today and, as I snagged several, I was reminded of the line from a Guy Clark song: “… there’s only two things that money can’t buy and that’s true love and homegrown tomatoes …” Cheers!
