Second last day in Tanzania and we were all feeling the heat, - TopicsExpress

Second last day in Tanzania and we were all feeling the heat, probably more so than on the worksites lugging buckets and bricks!! We started our day at a Vocational Training Centre for school leavers seeing the workshops and learning about the training that the live-in students get. Some of us tried (not brilliantly) to play the organ and other instruments they had made and we got to take a look at the component parts which was pretty impressive. We moved from there to Fuka school which is a mix of orphaned, vulnerable and other school children. We arrived to the children singing and playing music before we were given the history of the school and the Sarah Hardie home which can now hold a few of the orphaned children. With some funding, they have also started to build a canteen so that the children can eat safely but this is not finished. They have come a long way but they have a long way to go, even for their small parish needs. After we played games with the children (over 200), we moved to the home we visited at the beginning of our trip to spend time there. We had cake, played games, handed out toys and even had water balloon fights. We were all pretty shattered by the end, which had a lot to do with the humid temperature. We all seem to be a little tired tonight and the realisation that this trip is very nearly over is setting in. For each and every one of us, this journey has been humbling as well as life changing and we wouldnt have wanted to do it with another group of people. We have learned from each other and we have supported each other and its going to be hard to adjust to not seeing each other every day. Tomorrow is our last day here in Tanzania and were off on some sight seeing and to a museum. Were going to make the most of it and make some more memories (and take some more selfies) before we leave!!
