Secular India at its best!!!!!! Chennai: Members of Indian People Party headed by its President T.Devanadhan Yadav approached the city police commissioner’s office on Monday seeking action against ‘Dravida Kazhagam’ president K.Veeramani alleging that the latter’s statements about Hinduism and Lord Krishna had hurt Hindu sentiments and could create communal disharmony in the state. According to the complainant, Veeramani had issued a statement on August 27 questioning the necessity to celebrate the birthday of Lord Krishna. Furthermore, he insulted the Bhagavad Gita, the sacred book of the Hindus. The DK leader had questioned Lord Krishna’s stature as God, the complainant alleged. “From stealing butter at small age, to stealing women’s clothes at adolescence and further asking them to come out, Krishna was the instigator of Eve teasing,” the DK leader had said. “He had further questioned the rationale behind celebrating an act like this which even a common man would hesitate to do as ‘Krishna Leela’ The DK leader had also criticised Bhagavad Gita for stoking a fight among brothers and also alleged that Lord Krishna had instigated the caste system in the sacred book. “From Adi Sankara to Mahatma Gandhi, more than hundred people have written commentaries on Bhagavad Gita and the work has been translated into more than 100 languages and sold several million copies around the world,” the complainant noted. Yadav also faulted Veeramani for falsely attributing Krishna to things he never said in the Gita. Alleging that K.Veeramani’s statements had deeply hurt the sentiments of Hindus while humiliating a god worshipped by millions, the Indian People Party approached the commissioner’s office seeking action against K.Veeramani at the earliest.
