Secularism or Pluralism: I am tired of the Secularism label that was imposed on us by some western-trained affluent Indians in the forties, It is illogical and impractical. A billion-plus people can not truly & securely compartmentalize their religion and state.The best that can be expected is total tolerance. And that is where Pluralism kicks in. Live and let live. Try telling a Sikh soldier not to say Jo bole... or a Hindu soldier not to say Har har.... before getting mentally ready for the supreme sacrifice ! Well, thank God, our forces do not have to make this Secularism choice; and it all works out fine. Indian armed forces are a great example of Pluralism. Maybe Pluralism is the right template for our country. What say you?
