Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Ongoing Security Incident in Martin Place in Sydney Security Incident in Martin Place in Sydney U.S. Consulate Sydney informs U.S. citizens that the security incident involving one armed person at the Lindt Chocolate Café in Martin Place in Sydney has ended. U.S. citizens are advised to continue to avoid the exclusion area around Martin Place due to the heavy police presence. Normal consular operations at the Consulate will resume on Wednesday, December 17. The New South Wales Police have opened a Public Information Inquiry Centre (PIIC) to take calls from members of the public about the police operation in Sydneys Martin Place today.
