The cause of this outbreak is not yet known, but the illness does not appear to be directly linked to the current Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Testing is underway and results are anticipated to be available this weekend or early next week. The situation is being monitored by the Congolese authorities very closely. Currently, there are not any suspected or confirmed cases of Ebola in either the Democratic Republic of the Congo or the Republic of the Congo.
