Seek Knowledge. When I met one of my biggest inspirations, Lauryn Hill, that was the first thing she said when I asked for advice. Ive always practiced this, and her reminder to continue doing so was greatly appreciated. So, in regards to some of the comments and feelings about the TI song, I still have to put that in practice and try to understand where some of you are coming from. Ive seen too often people complain about our most popular artist not speaking on social issues, but when they do they get backlash. So, its a real catch 22, damned if I do, damned if I dont for a lot of them. In particular, talking about TI, I understand because of his brand and image of being a bad boy he is put in a box and for a lot of people he stays in that box. When he does songs like this, I understand some people dont feel its genuine and you say hes part of the problem. I understand your view point if you keep him in that box. Especially, when you dont follow or he doesnt share this side of him regularly, or what he does do in the community doesnt get publicized as much as the negative. All I can express is my opinion, and you are entitled to your own. Yes, I wish more of our biggest artist would make songs like this. And, I in no way think TI is doing this for the wave. I think he has been affected by law enforcements misuse of power and it is something he really cares about. I dont put TI in a box, all I can do is appreciate him for speaking up. Id rather him put this out then another song about guns and being a bad boy. I feel like if this inspires anyone, and brings more awareness, GREAT. Thats what I choose to focus on, the message and seeing the person outside of a brand. If you feel differently, you are free to do so. But, thats just my personality...I try to see the good and what it can do to help the situation. Id like to see him do more music like this. So, I choose to support him when he does, because bashing him wont do it. If we tell him this isnt the music youve been making and therefore we dont want to hear this from You.....well, then Im sure hell listen and wont do music like this because its not what we want to hear from him, or any other artist that falls in that box.
