Segregation: the action or state of setting someone or something - TopicsExpress

Segregation: the action or state of setting someone or something apart from other people or things or being set apart. (I aint gonna be liked after this one and its long). I had to look the word up just to be sure I understood it. Why? Because that is what I see in the body of Christ. No, Im not talking about white and black but Im thinking church and church, pastor and pastor, congregation and congregation. It is amazing how much competition goes on in and amongst Christians while we all claim to be going in towards the same goals and to the same destination. Mark 3:25 says, And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. and if this is then how can we truly claim to be effective if we cant even work together? Church has become famous, not as a place of unity but as a place for a fashion shows, a sing off and battle of the bands. The Church is becoming infamous for Preachers of LA and now Detroit, coming to a station near you and what is the real benefit to the body of any of this? Are people coming to the church because of any of this? Now, when I ask that I am not talking about our favorite pass time of church hopping. You know, thats where we leave one church and join another because were tired of the pastor because he didnt let us do what we wanted to do or because this new church installed a swimming pool and a roller coaster. No, Im talking about new converts to Christ. Those are people who were unsaved and now they are saved through the ministry of the church. Can we honestly believe we are truly effective simply because the same program goers came to your program and it was packed, they shouted and gave an offering? When will we be or get re-concerned with the lost souls. Sure, we need to preach to the found and in that we are doing a decent job but what about the lost? When do they matter? When do we do a major event in a city with thousands of believers whos sole purpose is to not simply sit in a gigantic coliseum and talk about taking our streets back but descend on that city, in the power of the Holy Ghost and go street witnessing, systematically and bring them to a Holy Ghost service? Like the old school tent meetings. I recently watched a post get somewhere near 100 responses that spoke about how we need to come together, as the body of Christ, to get some money into the hands of people through education and biblical principles and I was taken aback. Now, dont get me wrong, I believe we all could use some money but I remember, on numerous occasions posting about getting together to, as a team, not only devise strategies for winning souls through biblical and practical teachings but also to go out and actually witness to people and direct them to the churches near their homes. I dont think I got five responses. The irony was it seems that the idea of doing the work and sharing the catch (so to speak) was out of the question. The question I could almost hear was, Well, if we do this how many are going to be coming to my church? See, I finally learned that we are segregated to get OUR stuff. We want OUR church to grow not THE CHURCH to grow. We want OUR ministry to flourish not THE MINISTRY. We want people to come to OUR church not THE CHURCH. It seems the only time we can agree is if WE are going to get something from it OURSELVES. We dont want to work together unless we are the ones in charge or our name is on the marquee. We CAN agree if we can see that we are (read I am) going to get some money. See, segregation is what happens when we compete against each other instead of complete each other. When we hoard people, information and other things that could be essential to ministry. The church is segregated because of people wanting to be THE MAN instead of truly wanting to lift Jesus up so that He can draw all men unto Himself. The book of Acts second chapter says that they added to the church DAILY such as should be saved. Wait, daily church growth? I wonder if that was because the church was working together towards the same goal? Segregation.... that is the biggest trick of the enemy and we seem to be very successful in it.
