Pabrik itu akan membantu perusahaan untuk menghasilkan energi yang lebih hemat dan meningkatkan efisienasi. Pembangunan PLTU itu akan dimulai tahun depan dan akan selesai dalam 24 bulan ke depan dengan total investasi Rp600 miliar. Setengah biaya pembangunan akan ditutup oleh pemerintah Jepang sehingga SMGR hanya akan mengeluarkan dana senilai Rp300 miliar. Emiten akan bekerja sama dengan China Steel Structure Co dan Acquire Universal Advantage untuk menggarap 216 hektare areal industri Taiwan. Area khusus seluas 40 hektare akan difungsikan untuk pencetakan, mesin, dan manufaktur suku cadangan otomotif.
