As an Alabama native, Im a bit jealous that Rep. Lewis grew up near Troy (about an hour from Andalusia) and later moved to Georgia. I wish hed have stayed in Alabama, so that I could point to him as representing MY home state. Georgia lucked out. Not only Georgia, but also America — and indeed, for that matter, the world — thanks to real-world heroes such as this man. Enduring not only a legacy of centuries of oppression, injustice, slavery, tortures, and murders — but also his own personal injuries and arrests — for doing *nothing wrong.* THAT is courage that I have never had to practice. I can only admire it, and be profoundly thankful.
