Two Pipe Creek Elementary School students received the surprise of a lifetime Friday morning. Gannon and Gillian Myers werent expecting their older brother, 2013 Maconaquah High School graduate Billy Murphy, to come home until this weekend after nine months of Air Force training. However, Murphy visited both of their classrooms to greet them with an early return. “I didn’t think it was going to work, but it did,” Murphy said. He added it felt “amazing” to see his younger siblings’ faces light up when he came in the room. Gannon’s birthday was Friday, but his mother, Beth Myers, said he chose to “cancel” it until his older brother was home to celebrate with him. After Murphy surprised Gannon, Murphy said, “You don’t have to cancel your birthday, bud,” with a laugh. Murphy was accompanied by a group of family members and friends before they took Gannon and Gillian to lunch.
