Self-Righteousness Ecclesiastes 7:15-18. All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who prolongs his life in his wickedness.{{Note. First of all, this Passage does not mean that a man perishes because he is righteous; neither does it mean that a wicked man prolongs his life by being wicked. It does mean that some just men die at an early age, even though righteous. As well, some men, despite their wickedness, live long lives. We must leave such things in the Hands of God ! }} Be not righteous over much; neither make yourself over wise: why should you destroy yourself ? {{Note. There must not be any self-righteousness and the heart of the Believer, for such will destroy. }} Be not over much wicked, neither be you foolish: why should you die before your time ? {{Note. This is not mean that it is satisfactory in the Eyes of God to be wicked was got in a small degree. It does mean that our situation is already perilous, and to aggravate our sinfulness could bring upon us the Wrath of God, with our life cut short. }} It is good that you should take hold of this; yes, also from this withdraw not your hand: for he who fears God shall come forth to them all. {{Note. A proper fear of God will destroy all self-righteousness. }} King James Version/Expositor Study Bible
