Selma: Saw the movie today, and I could not help but notice how the poetic imagination of the Biblical narrative--especially the Jewish prophets and the teachings of Jesus--inspired and sustained the Civil Rights Movement and its leaders, and how preachers and church leaders mobilized people of all colors and faiths for risky actions on behalf of justice and equality. Praying for a church that is willing to put aside the corporate model in order to embrace its prophetic calling. Selma: Vi la película hoy y no pude evitar el fijarme en como la imaginación poética de la narrativa bíblica--especialmente los profetas judíos y las enseñanzas de Jesús--inspiraron y sostuvieron el Movimiento de Derechos Civiles y sus líderes, y como predicadores y líderes eclesiásticos mobilizaron a la gente de todos colores y fes para tomar acciones riesgosas a favor de la justicia y la igualdad. Oro porque la iglesia tenga la voluntad de deshacerse del modelo corporativo para poder acoger su llamado profético.
