Seminar on “Faculty Development in Hr Education Issues and Challenges” held at A.S College Educational institutes are fountains of prosperity, development: Akbar Lone SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 18:- Described educational institutes fountains of prosperity and development, the Minister for Higher Education, Mr Mohammad Akbar Lone today urged upon college teachers to impart quality education enriched with innovative technological trends and inculcate quest for excellence among students so that they can prove their talent in global level competitions and become torch bearers for the nation. The Minister was addressing a National Seminar on “Faculty Development in Higher Education Issues and Challenges” organised jointly by Amar Singh College Srinagar and Government Degree College Vailo Larnoo, Anantnag at Amar Singh College Srinagar. Appreciating organising such seminars, Mr Lone said that such seminars provide appropriate platform for the participants to deliberate upon the theme and come up with a strategy to effectively meet the challenges confronting faculty development in higher education, adding that interactive proceedings in the seminar will further equip the participants with the understandings of each other’s ideas in yielding fruitful results in meeting challenges in the society. Mr Lone said that Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah is very much keen for the uplifment and upgradation of educational setup of the state and government has taken various initiatives of learning for providing a dynamic and creative academic environment, to tap the nature talent for the development of professional skills and all round personality. The Minister said the rapid expansion of the higher education field demands excellent and skilful faculty with multi character capability for which these seminars work as ingredients and urged upon participants to avail maximum advantage from such seminars. Stressing upon college teaching faculty, the Minister urged them to deliver professional responsibilities with more zeal and devotion and come to the expectations of the students, society and nation at large. Underscoring the need of having updated and upgraded knowledge of the faculty, the Minister urged them to get maximum benefit from the modern technological revolution for developing innovative upto date atmosphere in the Colleges.. On the occasion, the Minister also released College publications including Seminar Souvenir, Recommendations of International Conference, and latest issue of College Newsletter and previous issue of A.S College Chronicles. Meanwhile, the Minister visited various compounds and blocks of the College and took stock of the developmental works under execution. He visited the block of Institute of Mathematical Sciences in the College compound. He also inaugurated the Students Browsing Center cum Reading room of the College and had interaction with the staff members and students. Among others, Director Colleges, Director Academic Staff Colleges, Kashmir University, Director Education Colleges, Principal GDC, Vailo, Anantnag, Principal, faculty, students of A.S.College besides Principals of other Colleges and participants attended the function.
