Senate passed the omnibus bill today with the defunding intact. Obama will sign into law. No funding for USDA inspection of horse meat for now. U.S. plants cannot open without it. Celebrate for now but remember, we have a lot more work to do to stop horse slaughter once and for all. We are already moving forward with additional strategies on this end. No time to rest as our horses are still crossing the borders and have already suffered right here in the U.S. at auctions and/or during transport, long before reaching the horror of the kill box.
