This requires a deep understanding of the Microsoft technology stack from OS to the latest data access models.Maintaining and evolving our production environment requires a commited technologist with a drive to see issues through to the end. There is a need to maintain a high level of quality and resiliency, to accomplish this you must be able to understand the entire technical landscape to troubleshoot issues. Some of the current technologies the DBA will have responsibility for include Failover Clusters, Database Mirroring and Replication. As the platforms we support grow and change, so do our requirements. New technology must be evaluated to ensure that our data platforms keep up with the companys needs. Some up and coming technologies we are evaluating include Availability Groups and Microsofts in-memory technologies.The DBA will demonstrate and help the development teams follow agile SSIS and T-SQL database development and deployment practices. Releases, changes and datafixes must always be repeatable and moved from environment to environment with minimal user intervention. The philosophies behind Unit Testing and Continuous Integration guide our database development and automation practices.A key skill for this position is the ability to facilitate communication within and between teams. Problems seldom exist in a vacuum and the database is normally the integration point between different projects. Similarly this role stands on the common boundry between infrastructure and development and must be able to communicate concerns clearly.This position is challenging and offers the opportunity to work with many people from around the world to build, deploy and maintain great software.Position Requirements; we are looking for a person that has: 8+ Years of Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server and Windows Server Administration Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems. Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Experience working in an Agile environment Experience with backups, restores and recovery models. Experience developing SSIS Packages for multiple environments Integrated Unit Testing, ideally with tSQLt Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server. Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts. Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics. Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations. Good communication and documentation skills. Leadership skillsPreferred candidates would also meet the following criteria: Involvement with the MSSQL Server Community; membership in PASS, active in forums or newsgroups.
