Senior Engineer - Barrick Pueblo Viejo - República Dominicana This position is for a mining engineer with excellent technical and leadership skills at a gold, silver and copper open pit truck/shovel operation with multiple pits and limestone quarries. Duties include preparation of engineering plans, budgets, design work, training of national engineers, and recommendations to supervision regarding system improvements. Must be able to work as a part of a team and communicate with mine planning, geology, geotechnical, hydrology, mine operations, mine maintenance, TSF construction, process, environmental, and other departments/divisions as needed. In addition to individual workload, the successful candidate will also oversee a team of engineers/technicians and will be responsible for ensuring their work is of high quality and meets the needs of the mine. The successful candidate will exhibit leadership skills and show a demonstrated ability to train and empower other engineers/technicians. Occasional oversight of outside consultants and contractors and ensuring regulatory and site compliance to standards. Minimum Skills and Qualifications Required and /or Preferred: · Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering or related field required. · Seven plus years of progressive experience in multiple aspects of mining engineering required. · Open pit mining experience required. · Practical experience with drilling and blasting preferred. · Ability to independently prepare engineering plans/designs using at least one of the following: AutoCad, Vulcan, Runge Software, Whittle, Mine Sched, or QPit required. · Must be a 100% computer literate and have excellent Microsoft Office skills particularly in Excel. (required) · Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Working knowledge of English required. · Ability to communicate plans across a diverse group of customers including management, technical groups, and operators/contractors in the field required. Timely submittal of project updates and communication with project stakeholders both internal and external required. · Familiarity and former experience with Jigsaw dispatch or similar systems preferred. · Strong oral and written communication skills required. · Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment required. · Demonstrated ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions required. · Demonstrated ability to train and foster engineers and technicians. · Proven safety, environmental, performance, and attendance records required.
