Talisman Australasia, with its offices in Brisbane & Port Moresby, is presently undertaking a project with its Partners to aggregate and exploit hydrocarbon reserves in the Western foreland region of Papua New Guinea. Talisman has interests in several licenses in PNG where it is presently engaged in acquisition of seismic data and the drilling of exploration and appraisal wells in order to build sufficient gas resources for a commercial project. While based in Brisbane and a key part of the Exploration/Subsurface team, this role is responsible for geophysical leadership in the technical evaluation of the Talisman licences and new block entry opportunities in Papua New Guinea (both onshore and offshore). Technical excellence is imperative. Exploration in Papua New Guinea is largely geophysically driven so this role is important so as to: • Lead and support the evaluation of exploration plays, leads, and prospects, by integrating the geological/geophysical data and drilling results. • Obtain realistic estimates of hydrocarbon potential (including probabilistic and deterministic methods) and present commercially viable prospects through the technical assurance process (peer review) optimizing Talisman’s objective of establishing a long term presence in Papua New Guinea.
