Senior Football report v. Dookie United 10/05/2014 Right from the first bounce it was obvious that the boys were switched on today as the on ballers cleared the ball with ferocious determination. Terence Jones, Drew Haebich, Kyle Archibald and Jock Darke were hard at it and along with Kade Rowe and Brady Hayes consistently driving the ball into our fifty. Dookie were crowding it up with extra men and after some inaccurate kicking James and Saunders opened up their accounts. It was look out Dookie as James kicked two more and Drew kicked one before the first break. The back line had held them goal less with some fantastic close work. A 35 point lead at quarter time. The tackling pressure in the second term was relentless with something like thirty tackles for the quarter! Leigh Howroyd was busy and Ash Saunders was having an impact changing in the ruck Matt Clark and Kyle Archibald scored due to their consistent power running and Damian Payne celebrated his first goal for the season after switching forward. Dookie still to kick a goal and a 67 point lead at the main break. The third quarter was another clinical display of ruthless attack on the ball and great tackling pressure by the Bears. Ada Connell and Bodhi Butts were providing plenty of run and the back six were being miserly in not giving their opponents any easy possessions. Jock Darke’s pin-point passes to leading forwards was a highlight and Coach Doyle was grinding out the clearances. Goals to James, Haebich, Darke and a second to Payne saw us lead by 89 points at the last break. The weather turned bad but the goal scoring stepped up for the Bears in the last as we poured on another seven. Tom Irvine went forward and scored, brother Jim was getting involved in some mid field moves and that backline got tighter than ever with Sanderson, Butts, Dominick and crew being ruthless all day. The final margin was an impressive 128 points as the team managed to put together a really consistent effort for four quarters with all players carrying out their roles effectively. Final Scores: Tungamah 21:19:145 Dookie 2:5:17. Goals: L. James 8, D. Haebich 2, K. Rowe 2, K. Archibald 2, D. Payne 2, C. Powell , M. Clark , T. Irvine , A. Saunders , J. Darke.
