Senior Geodesist National Mapping Agency, Algeria October 1977 – November 2006 (29 years 2 months) Between 1977 and 1985, I worked at the National Institute of Cartography of Algiers dealing with various tasks of maintaining, developing, using, operating software dedicated to geodesy, photogrammetry, mapping, topography, remote-sensing, satellite techniques applied to geodesy and navigation. Between 1985 and 1987 I stayed at the university of Graz, Austria in the department of Physical Geodesy, headed by Professor Helmut Moritz, a prominent and well known geodesist and scientist (referenced in Wikipedia), where I came with four certificates in physical geodesy from. I came back in December 1987 at the National Institute of Cartography and Remote-Sensing where I worked until 2006 on satellite techniques applied to geodesy and navigation, gravimetry and the determination of the geoid, all these subjects worked out through the use and development of huge applications software written mainly in the Fortran language and part of the subroutines written in the C++ language. The operating systems I used were two distributions of Linux (Mandriva and Fedora) and Windows XP. The main tasks using such huge software were adjustments and re-adjustments within the Algerian geodetic network. Since the year 2000, I discovered the use of the Web and the fascinating world of the Free Software and the GNU project. I have real skills in the field of computer science and I felt on that time fully able to complete the preparation, the submitting and the presentation of a PhD thesis within maximum two-three years. I have two recommendations letters written by two outstanding professors in geodesy, Professor Erik W. Grafarend from the university of Stuttgart and Professor Lars Sjöberg, from the Royal Institute of Technology of Stockholm . I could not complete Phd studies at the University of Stuttgart and at the Royal Institute of Technology of Stockholm due to a lack of financial support. I am retired since November 2006 from the National Institute of Cartography, Algiers.
