Senior Major Gifts Officer LA Opera has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Major Gifts Officer who will focus on identifying, cultivating and stewarding individual prospects and donors of $25,000 and above to support LA Opera’s performances, public programs and special projects. They will be responsible for developing targeted strategies to acquire new donors, and renew and increase gifts from current donors. In addition, the Senior Major Gifts Officer will cultivate and secure endowment and planned gifts. Responsibilities include: · Build and manage a portfolio of 100 – 150 leadership donors and prospects · Solicit and secure five and six figure (and above) gifts for unrestricted and restricted uses · Create and implement strategies to identify, cultivate and acquire new donors · Renew and upgrade annual donors · Develop and implement best stewardship practices · Manage prospect and solicitation systems in the Tessitura database · Develop plans and strategies to build the Opera Council and other leadership programs · Draft donor solicitations, acknowledgements and other correspondence · Staff events and performances · Work collaboratively with development staff and other departments · Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Qualified candidates will have a BA or BS in a related field and 5 years of major gift fundraising, preferable for a non-profit performing arts organization. Proven success raising funds from individuals in face to face solicitations required. Candidates must have the ability to deal discreetly with sensitive, confidential and proprietary information. Experience with solicitation strategies, volunteers and board members is also necessary. Night and weekend work as needed and a passion for the performing arts is a plus.
