Sent a message to Chris Adler of Lamb of God asking for advice on a life issue Im having. I was surprised I actually got a response: Love it! We are now in the Anything portion of the AMA! Bring it on!!!! Ok man, Im gonna give you my take based on my experiences. Im no Dr. Ruth, so take it all with a grain of salt. Every time I have been presented with an opportunity that scared or intimidated me, I did the same thing most people do. Try to find a slick way out of it. Then for some reason, probably some subliminal shit my mom told me in my sleep when I was a kid, I forced myself to try. The biggest accomplishments in my life and career have come so close to not happening because I was so scared to take the leap. A few examples - Quitting my really good job with benefits for the band. Telling Modern Drummer I would do their clinic festival. Touring the US and Europe SOLO and teaching people how to play drums. Writing a book. (now 2) Taking my drums into a preschool and entertaining the kids Having a child Terrifying? Nerve wracking? Cold sweats? Nausea? You bet. Regrets? Not one. All of my examples allowed me to prepare. To rehearse and to understand the expectations and potential end results. I suggest that you take the time, look inside yourself and prepare. Be ready to accept any response while maintaining hope. Then do it. My opinion is that you will regret never saying anything more than finding out it wasnt your day. Good luck, my man.
