Sent home as a form of retaliation. Not a good thing....I have a duty to all those workers to protect them from the obvious rigging hazards associated with their job. For my troubles I have been sent home basically told I was not needed any longer, five minutes after reporting a safety hazard. Synthetic Snapback can dismember and even kill anyone within its line of fire. To run any type of pneumatic equipment without following the suggest amount of regulated air supply (of manufacture) can cause such a scenario. On this particular incident the Crosby clips that form the eye of the draw-works cable was being pulled through the eye and crushing the thimble, this could result in a Synthetic Snapback. At the beginning of this job I assured my Rigging Superintendent I would not allow anyone to get hurt on my watch and he assured me he would have my back if I was in the right. For this very reason is why we hire rigging professionals to warn of the hazard and this is also why I scored a 100 on my advanced rigging exam...lol. You guys also be sure to visit my SAFELIFT USA blog to learn more about Safe Crane and Rigging procedures and techniques. Im sure this incident will make a great blog entry! kelleyosburn.wordpress/ https://facebook/SAFE-LIFT-USA Here is a great link below pertaining to Synthetic Snap-Back. towmasters.wordpress/2009/09/15/synthetic-snap-back-it-really-does-happen/
