Sep 11 Good morning Family; You know there just seems to be a lot of similarities from the political state in the day of the Pharisee as compared to today. There was a group of folks called the Pharisees who were always trying to catch Jesus off guard. Regardless of what Jesus was teaching, they would test, try to trip Him up, disrespect Him. The Pharisees were the religious leaders and teachers of the day like the political far right are the supposed religious leaders of this day. The Pharisees knew the Scriptures better than anyone and were always ready to tell others how to live by them. They were superior in their righteousness, or so they thought. Remind you of anyone one on the far right? Always preaching how immoral the left is and sure enough if we just be still and wait, one of those same pious leaders is found in an immoral compromising situation. They enjoyed their status, their power and the honor given to them by man. Jesus however, created problems for them in His teachings. The people wanted to hear more of what Jesus had to say. The Pharisees were threatened as they saw their power diminishing, as more and more people followed Jesus. How sad to realize that the very One whom they had been waiting for their whole lives was in their midst and they did not recognize Him! The people who denied Jesus would die in their sins because they refused to believe that He is the Son of God. When all is said and done, the verse above sums up the truth. If we do not believe in Jesus, we will die in our sins. Sadly, there are still Pharisees in our world today who think that by knowledge and good works they have the answers. There are those who can recite Scripture to justify any argument or prove any point and are always instructing others on how to live godly lives. Then, there are those who truly try hard to do what is right. They volunteer for ministry services, give freely to others in need and are kind-hearted to everyone. On the outside, both types look very godly and religious. But what about on the inside? Jesus is not impressed with our good works. Our best intentions mean nothing in the kingdom of God. We are born of sin, live sinful lives and will die in our sins, unless we do one thing—believe in Jesus. To put it in a similar earthly political setting- Dont BOO our adversaries, VOTE! Act to replace them with someone who actually will work for the people. We know that we are sinners who cannot do enough good works to earn our salvation. We are lost without You. I want You to be my Lord and Savior forever more. So Family, our mission should be to evangelize the lost and awaken the saved to live empowered lives by the Work of God and His Holy Spirit. Father we pray that we make a difference for the kingdom of God by teaching and training believers how to be in Gods Word, how to pray and how to walk with Jesus every day, as His daily disciple. And please know that I am in no way comparing President Obama to Jesus. No. No one can be compared to our awesome Father. It is just strange how the folks who have been in power for so long are shaken by the fact that a Black man has risen to the state of Presidency. These people are doing everything in their power to prevent us from voting, from living on a decent wage, trying to implement the segregation laws again via income inequality. They are afraid their status is being taken away from them and the pure example of a Black man in the most powerful position in the free nation is an awakening call. So, yes, they try him, test him, attempt to trip him up, tell untruths about him. That is why Father we pray that He keeps his eyes on You, and we know You will deliver him. Promises of God 2 He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the [a]miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. Psalm 40:2 23 The steps of a good man are led by the Lord. And He is happy in his way. 24 When he falls, he will not be thrown down, because the Lord holds his hand. Psalm 37:23, 24 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and [a]full of glory, 9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of [b]your souls. 1 Peter 1:8, 9 Song of the Day Mandisa: Overcomer (Click on the link below) youtube/watch?v=b8VoUYtx0kw 15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.
