September 11, 2014 2:05pm Good afternoon. It’s the final countdown to Toe Surgery III. There is no red carpet for this premier. This continuing saga is an all out effort to save a foot. Bone removal is pretty benign, but there is always risk whenever you’re the star in an OR. I get my close-up tomorrow at 7:30am if things go as planned. I got a new ambulatory aid today, one of those knee bikes. It’s pretty cool. I need to learn some tricks, poppin’ ollies over obstacles! Now that I see that in print, maybe I’ll hold off on any stuntman antics. But the thought should give you a glimpse into my mindset as I face my fears and do what’s necessary. I thought I read that as the definition of courage. If true, mine is tied to the hope of longevity, to see my girls finish school, graduate college, fall in love and marry real partners an not some poser. It is a lot to ask because I’ve been blessed so richly already, but hope is free and I’m spending that emotion like a fixture in the Forbes 500. My hope for those checking in on my humble journal is the same, long life, love, and peace of mind about everyone you care about. I’ll check in on the other side of the operation.
