September 26 in San Antonio history… 1890 The first regular trip in San Antonio of an electric motor car was made on the Alamo Electric Street Railway Company’s track from Navarro Street to the International Fair Grounds, south of the city. These electric streetcars will replace the previous mule-drawn streetcars. 1946 Another major flood strikes downtown San Antonio, but damage is minimized by Olmos Dam and bypass channel. Twelve people drown and damages are estimated at $4 million. 1968 Their Serene Highnesses Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco arrive in San Antonio for a benefit dinner – fashion show at the St. Anthony Hotel.
