September Gale, Lake Superior What you cant hear me say, because of the wind, is that the rock ledge the camera eventually focuses on at the end is a place I often swim out to and past, conditions warranting. Past that outcropping and around those rock headlands you can then see some of the highest cliffs along this part of the shore. Due to low water levels in the past ten years I have been able to dive off a shelf at the bottom of that ledge into water that quickly drops to at least 30 feet deep. Lovely, clear, bracingly cold water even during the warmest summers. Now that shelf looks to be well below the water surface. The water levels have risen dramatically due to the snow and rain this past year. It is as high as it was in the 80s. Really lovely swimming, if you dont mind feeling small (and cold).
