Serious assault, Atherton A Redlynch man has been charged after an incident which left a 22-year-old man with serious facial injuries at Atherton last night. Initial information suggests the incident occurred at a Tinaroo Dam camp ground around 6pm. A 22-year-old German National was allegedly struck in the face with a shovel during what is reported to be an unprovoked attached. A 20-year-old Saint Lucia man was also injured after allegedly being assaulted with a shovel. Both men were transported to Atherton Hospital. Police have charged a 20-year-old Redlynch man with one count each of grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm and common assault. He is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Courts on January 27. Police investigations are continuing.
