Sermon Notes: Scripture is both timely and timeless. It is - TopicsExpress

Sermon Notes: Scripture is both timely and timeless. It is timely in that it spoke with power and force into the specific details of the lives of the people to whom it was first addressed. It is timeless in that it continues to speak with power and force into the specific details of our lives. That may be the only way to explain the fact that we can spend eleven weeks in Nehemiah, following the work and progress of people rebuilding the wall of an ancient city and still walk away with lessons germane to our lives. And for that, we praise God! Now, to today’s passage. Many stories have epilogues. Such is chapter 13 of Nehemiah. An epilogue answers the questions, Once the story ends, what happens after that? The epilogues from fairy tales were, “And they lived happily ever after!” Don’t you wish life was that way?! Unfortunately, life is not a fairy tale. There is reality to address, challenges to face, heights to surmount. Today we turn to what Nehemiah had to face once the wall was rebuilt and the people were reformed. It may disturb and surprise you . . . and, who knows? . . . maybe even encourage you! Thank you for joining me over the last eleven weeks in this wonderful study! Randy Roberts Senior Pastor
