Sermon Teaser from Matthew 11:25-30 Christ’s invitation - TopicsExpress

Sermon Teaser from Matthew 11:25-30 Christ’s invitation extends to “all” people. With outstretched arms the Savior invites all those who are weary and burdened. Burdened by what? Burdened by the law! Those cities like Bethsaida refused to hear their need for a Savior. They thought following the law was the true way to find rest. Jesus invites everyone to come to him for true rest. Jesus understands our dilemma. He understands that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) He knows that by nature we are slaves to sin. He recognizes how we are bombarded with temptation daily. Jesus offers true rest to those burdened by sin by offering free and lasting forgiveness. Christ’s compassion reaches out to a world lost in sin. For the one whose faith is at the brink of burnout, whose wick is about to be extinguished, or who’s like a bruised reed about to be break – Jesus says ‘come to me… and I will give you rest.’ I will restore you; for the one has been attacked for expressing their faith – Jesus says ‘come to me’ and I will heal your wounds, by my wounds on the cross; for the one burdened by the guilt of their own sin who thinks that God can never accept them for what they’ve done – Jesus says, ‘come to me’ and I will take your guilt completely away – you don’t have to carry your sin any longer. Jesus invitation reaches out to those lost in sin, and desperately seeking rest.
