Seventeen years ago on the morning of our 14th wedding anniversary, our only son, a ten pound boy, was born here in our home, and changed all of our lives for the better! We already had 3 sweet, fun, adorable, delighted little girls to welcome him. I was terrified of getting a mean, rotten, dirty, destructive, trouble making boy! Instead Heavenly Father sent one of his choicest! He sent the boy I had earnestly prayed for - a son who was obedient, sensitive to others needs, cheerful, gentle leader, protective, tender hearted, faithful, full of goodness, and so many other man-of-Christ qualities! He is evidence that God does hear and answer our prayers! He has been a wonderful brother to four sisters. He has kindly and patiently tolerated their girl ways and protects and watches over them. He has never abused them or made them cry. Life with sisters has not been easy for an only boy. For example, we could not all agree on his name for the first two weeks of his life, so his sisters, who had been obsessively watching the musical Grease, called him John Travolta! Rachel Hicks, Paige Hicks, Abby Hicks, and Lindsey Hicks adore him. Jake Hicks, you are the son of my prayers! You are becoming an honorable, trust worthy, hard working, faithful man. Your wife and daughters will be blessed women. I am proud of who you are! I hope today is a Happy Birthday! Thank you to Farra Swan for delivering him safely here!
