Several US World Cup team members have ties to the Garden State. Goalie Tim Howard is from North Brunswick, beginning his pro career with the North Jersey Imperials before joining the MetroStars (now the Red Bulls in Harrison). Midfielder Michael Bradley was born in Princeton and lived in Pennington Township while his dad was the mens soccer coach at Princeton University. Midfielder/winger Alejandro Bedoya was born in Englewood. Striker Jozy Altidore was born in Livingston. His career started with the Red Bulls at age 16. Asst. Coach Tab Ramos moved to New Jersey from Uruguay with his family when he was 11. He owns Tab Ramos Sports Center in Aberdeen.
