Several cultural exchanges have occurred since the formation of the Sister Cities relationship between Southern Pines and Newry/Mourne in Northern Ireland. Now, craft brewers in both locations want to develop a beer jointly to toast that success. “Hopefully, we can get a good shamrock beer for St. Patrick’s Day in 2016,” said Connaire McGreevy, who will open a craft brewery early next year in Warrenpoint, about five miles from Newry/ Mourne. “These things take a long time to brew, pardon the pun. It’s exciting, but I’m nervous.”
