Several missionaries that we support have good contacts among the Ukranian people. I was given another prayer request and letter asking for the American church to pray. Again, the names and places have been scrubbed by the author so this letter is safe to post and repost. Dear Brothers and Sisters In Christ, I am writing you asking you to join me on a prayer mission for Ukraine. As you know there have been many developments that have taken place in Ukraine during the past week that have been very good and also very tragic. During the past 3 months during the Maidan protests, there has been an ongoing ministry in sharing the Gospel, handing out Bibles and Christian material at the same time providing gifts of mercy in meeting physical needs for food and physical assistance to the protesters. You have also seen the shedding of blood that has gripped our hearts and has caused many unanswered questions. Many people in Ukraine have been searching for answers and are seeking the answers from churches and ministers. We praise God that He is opening hearts to reveal Himself. Now we see in the news that the tension and uncertainty continues in Ukraine with the focal point shifting from Kiev to Crimea. Crimea is the home of beloved missionaries of Grace Community Church. These missionaries consist of 6 men who are Ukrainian and live in Crimea. They are men of God who are disciple-makers by working with local churches throughout all of Crimea to train up leaders to serve, teach and evangelize in the communities in which they live. To protect their identity during this time we will refer to them as Men Equipping the Saints. Many from our church have visited with these men and their families and/or been in the cities that they live in which are making headlines today – Simferopol, Sevastopol, Kerch and Yalta. During this past week I have been in constant contact via email and telephone and our Men Equipping the Saints and report that everyone is safe but they ask us desperately for our prayers. They are very concerned about the future in Crimea and in Ukraine. I am calling on you to join me to prayer for Ukraine. I am asking you to commit to pray for Ukraine for the next 7 days. I fervently believe the crisis in Ukraine is not only about the political stability in the country and region but also for the souls of men. Here is a list of specific requests that you can pray for: 1. Pray for a peaceful solution. 2. Pray for the interim President Alex Turchinov. Alex is a lay leader at a Baptist church in Kiev and is known by one of our men and has heard him preach - he is a strong believer in Jesus. Pray that he will boldly and righteously lead the country and seek Godly counsel. 3. Pray for the Men Equipping the Saints and pastors that minister the Gospel - that they can boldly proclaim Jesus to people who are seeking answers. 4. Pray for the leaders of the United States and European Union in their dealings in this region that God will be glorified. 5. Pray for Vladimir Putin and his salvation. Pray for Godly advisors that may influence Putin and his decisions. 6. Pray for God’s mercy for Ukraine and Crimea. Our team believes that the changes going on in Ukraine is a second chance from God for the people to turn to God and seek Jesus as their Savior. 7. Pray for the safety of God’s children especially for the Men Equipping the Saints and their families. 8. Pray that God will be glorified. Again, I ask you to join me in fervent prayer for the next 7 days and specifically for the requests mentioned above. As there are further developments and prayer updates we will pass them along.
