***** Severe Thunderstorm Warning ***** A severe thunderstorm warning for damaging wind and heavy rainfall for the Central West, Lower West, South West, South Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt forecast districts has been issued. For people in parts of WA southwest of a line from Geraldton to Morawa to Cunderdin to Albany. This includes people in, near or between the following towns: Jurien Bay, Geraldton, Dalwallinu, Narrogin, Katanning, Albany, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Busselton, Bunbury, Mandurah, and the PERTH METROPOLITAN AREA A strong cold front is approaching the southwest of Western Australia during Sunday afternoon and evening. People are advised that there is a risk of SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS affecting western parts of the Southwest District from 5pm this afternoon, extending to west of a line from Jurien Bay to Gingin to Windy Harbour by 10pm and the remainder of the warning area by early Monday morning. Storms may be accompanied by - DAMAGING WINDS - HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING. Storms could cause DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY. There is a slight risk of storms producing large hail affecting the southern Central West district and the adjacent Lower West and Central Wheat Belt with the passage of the front late Sunday evening. If storms develop they are likely to be more intense than usual for this time of year and dangerous conditions may occur in some parts of the warning area. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises that people should: - Store or weigh down loose objects such as outdoor furniture. - Have an emergency kit with a battery operated radio, torch, spare batteries and first aid kit. - Ensure pets and animals are in a safe area. - Move vehicles under cover. - Boat owners should securely moor their boats. - Campers should find shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
