Severe Weather Forecast: Damaging Winds, a Few Tornadoes, Flash - TopicsExpress

Severe Weather Forecast: Damaging Winds, a Few Tornadoes, Flash Flooding Possible Before Christmas Red areas (if any) on the maps shown here indicate areas with the best chance of severe thunderstorms - thunderstorms producing wind gusts of at least 58 mph, hail at least 1 inch in diameter, or a tornado. Orange areas could see thunderstorms but have a minimal threat of severe weather. Tuesday: A threat of damaging winds, a few tornadoes, and some marginal hail is expected over the Lower Mississippi Valley and northern Gulf Coast from southern Louisiana and Mississippi to south Georgia and the Florida panhandle. The severe threat will continue Tuesday night in many of these same areas, then may linger into Christmas Eve from the coastal Carolinas to the central and southern Florida peninsula. A limited threat of severe weather may develop farther west immediately ahead of the cold front from parts of Ohio to eastern Kentucky, east Tennessee, and Georgia, with a brief high wind gust possible. Wednesdays Forecast: Severe thunderstorms are expected to materialize over the next couple of days as a vigorous southward plunge of the jet stream swings into the East and warm, moist air surges north ahead of a cold front. Later on Christmas Eve and perhaps into early Christmas morning, bands of rain with embedded thunderstorms in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and New England ahead of the sharp cold front may produce a few strong wind gusts that could lead to power outages and downed tree limbs. In addition to the severe threat, locally heavy rain may trigger flash flooding in parts of the Deep South and East from Tuesday through Christmas Eve night. Flood watches have already been posted for parts of south Georgia, north Florida and south Alabama. Rainfall on the order of an inch or two in the Northeast, as far north as northern New England, may also trigger local flash flooding. Melt-water from existing snow pack combining with rainfall may raise levels on smaller streams and rivers in Upstate New York and northern New England. *Article courtesy of The Weather Channel weather _______________________________________ charlottecountywx/ #CharlotteCounty #PortCharlotte #PuntaGorda #HarborHeights #CharlotteHarbor #DeepCreek #Englewood #GroveCity #RotondaWest #Placida #CapeHaze #ManasotaKey #LittleGasparillaIsland #GasparillaIsland #LeeCounty #BocaGrande #BurntStoreMarina #CapeCoral #SarasotaCounty #NorthPort #WarmMineralSprings #SouthVenice #Venice #Nokomis #Laurel #Osprey #swfl #flwx #swflwx #Weather
