Severe Weather Update: The latest information about the Antarctic storm so far what i know? There appears to be 2 lows associated with this storm event one develops out off Cape Farewell with barometric pressure of 990hp and slowly moves north pass Taranaki before falling apart. The second low is off the Kaikoura coast feeding the cold southerly directly into Wellington/Wairarapa regions and is deepening. Its starts off as 994hp Low pressure system just north of Christchurch and then starts to intensify by the time it reaches just off the Wairarapa coast it is now 974hp this is significant if the low gets close to the shore the winds will be howling and damaging. Snow? at this stage it will definately be snowing. Just unsure how low it will fall too and it something im keeping an eye on last time i looked it was 400 metres. If you live in the Wairarapa beware that heavy snowfall may close the road on Friday night. All weather models to this point have not changed at all and still project this Antarctic storm to hit us. Snow falls to lower levels at night too. At this stage the coldest air will arrive Friday night from 5pm onwards. Next update tomorrow morning. Have a good night Daniel :)
