Severe Weather Update: West Coast North Island (Kapiti to Taranaki) Severe Southwesterly winds gusts up to 120km in exposed places. Hail, Rain, Sleet develop today and the temperature will plummet Snow falling above 400 around Rimutakas but near 700 to 800 metres further north this includes Taihape which may see some snow flurries overnight too. Isobar lines still go to the Antarctic but come north in a southwesterly direction. Desert Road will also receive snow anyone heading north overnight needs to check road snowfall warnings. Great news for skiers let hope the snow doesnt get blown off the mountain though. Wellington: Severe winds gusting up to 120km at times today. Passing clouds with rain showers and hail cold southwesterlies. Colder air arrives this afternoon. Keep you posted. Keep warm out there cold weekend ahead.
