Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds, heavy rain, abnormally high tides and damaging surf for people in the Metropolitan, Mid North Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains forecast districts Issued at 3:51 pm EST on Sunday 23 June 2013. Localised heavy rain for the central and southern part of the coast and adjacent ranges, increasing Monday as gale force winds and damaging surf develop. Weather Situation A trough off the NSW coast is bringing localised heavy rain to central and southern parts of the coast. The heavy rain is expected to become more widespread overnight Sunday into Monday and extend into the southern and central ranges as the trough moves closer to shore. A low pressure system will develop off the north coast tonight then move to the southwest and likely cross the coast around Sydney or the Central Coast during the day Monday. Locally damaging winds are likely to the south of the low over the Metropolitan and Illawarra districts, and southern parts of the Hunter including the Central Coast. Damaging winds may penetrate further inland to higher parts of the Illawarra later in the day and possibly the Southern Tablelands Monday night. Damaging surf is expected between about The Entrance and Ulladulla on top of higher than normal tides.
