Sham takes stock of on-going projects in Khan Sahib, Langate, Handwara constituencies SRINAGAR, AUGUST 07 –Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma reviewed the status of various on-going schemes under PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control sectors in Khan Sahib, Langate and Handwara constituencies at separate meetings held here today. Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CA&PD), Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, MLA Khan Sahib, Hakim Mohammad Yaseen, MLA Langate, Er. Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Commissioner/Secretary, PHE, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chief Engineer, PHE, Muzaffar Lanker, Chief Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control, Kashmir, Mir Javed Jaffer and concerned executive engineers were present in the meetings. While discussing the status of each scheme with the concerned public representative, the Minister assured to provide requisite funds for timely completion of on-going schemes under PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control sectors. He said drinking water and irrigation are the key sectors and Government will take all necessary measures to upgrade facilities. He directed the concerned engineers to speed up the pace of work and complete the on-going schemes in a stipulated time frame. The PHE Minister directed both the Chief Engineers to pay personal visits in these constituencies to ensure speedy completion of all on-going projects. He also called for improving the monitoring mechanism to ensure quality works strictly as per the guidelines and specifications so that the benefits of all such schemes percolate to the needy public. The Minister also sought cooperation from the concerned MLÄs in implementation of PHE and Irrigation schemes. Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, Hakim Mohammad Yasin and Er. Rashid highlighted their concern regarding the slow progress of schemes and demanded adequate funding for the early completion of on-going schemes. They also demanded upgradation of existing infrastructure of PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control so that the people get improved facilities. They also demanded new water supply schemes in the un-covered areas in their respective segments.
