Sharing photos from yesterdays Fifth Grade School Day at the Civil War Days at The Springs - Green Springs OH. What a great group of students! Many thanks to the teachers and chaperones! Our presentation was about the 1862 Clyde Ladies Aid Society and how they supported the war efforts. Students rolled bandages and read from a primary source, the actual contributions sent from Clyde; an 1862 minute book from the Society. Learning how receiving a pair of dry, clean socks or drawers, and preserved fruits and jams (not moldy) were blessings to those trying to survive in an environment of unsanitary conditions in field. Twenty presenters offered a variety of lessons. Sessions with General McPherson and President Lincoln were new to the agenda at this annual event.
