~Sharing some thoughts~ Every piece that I make, for as long as I can remember, contain moments of.... These moments can be of : discovery, happiness, frustration, facepalming, or sheer Zen Focus....among other things. There were several of these during the Batman vs Riddler build....Four stand-out especially....3 can be seen and shared....The other cant be captured visually. 1. The deep breath and utter focus (which has become increasingly difficult for me) required to carve into the Riddlers question mark so I could join the bat to it. I was, and am, very proud of the quality of the question mark I created and it took a LOT of courage (for me at least) to carve into it. The fact that it came out perfectly was just a bonus. 2. The moment of...oh, cool!...when I figured out how I could send the square dowel through the light base.....then putting the small bat on the end of it. That one was a booger to get done, believe it or not.... 3. Finding that my idea to attach the light-bulb to the metal bracket with magnets worked. The bracket is galvanized, so there are magnets attached to it and the light bulb both. 4. The moment I cant take a pic of lives inside me...Its a hard to fully describe feeling of contentment. This lamp was made for Anthony Joseph Fraley as a graduation (from High School) gift. AJ is the son of a lady I have known for just about my whole life, Misty....Her sister, Glenda, and I were in the same Kindergarten class---- Yeah, you read that right---Kindergarten! At any rate....AJ is one heckuva young man. It is my belief that if we had more responsible, respectful, hard-working, and ambitious young people like Anthony around, our country would be in MUCH better shape. When I see the idiot young people in the news getting into trouble, disregarding the importance of education, or just drinking/drugging/partying themselves into oblivion and start to really lose hope for the future....I remember there are ALSO young people like AJ out there too and I can breathe again. I wanted to make sure he knew just how proud of him I am...I hope this lamp (which, by the way, contains 99% either recycled or up-cycled materials) helps illuminate it for him. It was a challenging and truly educational build.....and also a joy. I hope you like it AJ. ~~Dont forget....I aint shipping it. You gotta come visit to get it. ~~
