Walking the Planes Episode #30 goes up on Christmas Day. In the 8 days leading up, Ill be counting down our Top 8 Favorite Sketches from WTP. Number 8: What Would Brian Kibler Do? Shawn had an idea a long time ago that it would be funny to do a sketch where a limo driver at the airport mistakes me for The Most Handsome Man in Magic. Brian is accomplished, famous, handsome, and a talented self-promoter. In other words, all the makings of someone to lampoon. Hes also a good sport and has a sense of humor, so I knew he wouldnt mind some good-humored ribbing. We originally aimed to do this at historic GP Vegas last year, but Brian was too busy wildly partying with Natalie Warren at the notorious EDC. A year and a playmat later, we had a few gags in the bag, but I couldnt for the life of me figure out a way to convey them properly. Why would Nate pretend to be Brian Kibler? A Talented-Mr-Ripley-esque fraud? Too complicated, requires an elaborate plot to resolve. Amnesia? Why would Nate have amnesia? Huge Brian Kibler fanboy? No, I wanted Nate to BE Brian Kibler, not be LIKE him. Then it hit me. A panicked Nate is calmed by his wife with a go-to therapeutic technique: WWBKD.
