Shazam launched its dial-to-discover music service back in 2002, - TopicsExpress

Shazam launched its dial-to-discover music service back in 2002, but fast-forward 12 years and the company exists as mobile apps, which wouldnt have been imaginable at the time. And thats interesting, because the companys head of music, Peter Szabo, says that Shazams only limit is imagination – stuff it doesnt appear to have a shortage of. I say that, because over the past few years weve seen the apps go from detecting songs to wider media including TV and cinema ads. You can also use Shazam for music news, lyrics, videos, buying concert tickets, and streaming. More recent efforts include exclusive in-app music premieres of new songs from Wiz Khalifa and Linkin Park, while just this week the company revealed a Demi Lovato campaign that will plan the Disney stars European Neon Lights tour based on where her single is tagged. Since the launch, her Neon Lights single has been tagged over 790,000 times, with more than 2,000 UK fans accounting for a tenth of the tags – an average of around 36 tags each. #VTMobileBotswana
