She loved him even before he was born. She suffered an unbearable pain just to bring her love into the world. Then he was born with soft pinkish white fingers. She took him in her lap and held his fingers while he giggled. It was the most beautiful moment of her life. He learnt speaking and said, ‘mama’ which brought a tear in her eyes. He asked million questions about all random stuff going in the world and she answered with kisses. She ate half roti to feed him. She kept awake entire nights when he had small sicknesses. She was ready to feed him in the middle of night during his exams. Today ‘just with his hard work and dedication’ he became a wealthy and famous man while her skin has got soft wrinkles. Her seldom questioning became an irritant for him. “You won’t understand today’s generation” he says, “Why does she keep asking so many questions like mad?” he thinks. She is thrown as a filthy rag in his otherwise beautiful home. ‘Paradise lies under her feet’ it is said. ‘Paradise lost’ I say.
