.. She woke up at the sound of her alarm that stole her dreams of her every morning, like a thief whose sound she got used to after hundreds of times of morning break-ins. Yet, it always terrified her, like a scream from hell that came at an unearthly hour. She only slept four hours like much of her nights. She shut the alarm off and stayed in her bed for a few minutes, contemplating the dark roof of her room, sleep deprived and with veinous eyes she stared at the darkness that surrounded her. Its amazing how sleep depravation accumulates and starts to alter your world completely, everything becomes vibrant yet dreary in a strange way. After some moments, she kicked the blanket away and put on her fluffy slippers and got up. She slapped her face with a handful of cold water. She looked at the mirror, dark circles surrounded her eyes like black frontiers. They seemed to get bigger every time she looked, but she stopped caring a long time ago. Her breakfast was simple, a black cup of coffee, she enjoyed every sip of it with great pleasure. Every molecule of caffeine felt like it was giving her more life. Every time she put the smooth edge of the cup on her lips it felt like the gentle kiss of a passionate lover, so soft and brief yet it made her feel more lively. The cup was empty before she could realize it. She grabbed her hand bag and walked out of the door. Another rainy day it seems. The sky is as black as the coffee she just drank. Rain was falling heavily. It was as if thousand and thousand of rain drops were committing suicide. Jumping from the roof of the clouds to meet their end at the hard concrete of a street road or at the loving arms of naked earth. She started walking to the bus stop, the street was as silent as a cemetery. The only sound she could hear was the wind howling like hungry wolves. Wolves that were fighting to rip her umbrella into pieces, her only shield from natures fury. She finally gave up and closed the umbrella, it was either that or seeing it torn apart by the invisible sharp teeth of winter wind. Rain started to hit her from every side, like it had a grudge on her. Her hair got wet in a heartbeat. Water was trickling down on her pale cheeks. The whole world looked blurry and chaotic. The bus was late again. Her socks were soaking wet. Her body started shivering uncontrollably. She couldnt take it anymore. She screamed at the top of her lungs, as hard as she could. But no one was there to hear. She was alone there, in the empty bus stop. But she felt that she was alone in the world. It was already late for school anyway. She threw her umbrella away and she walked back home as slow as a snail. She got back home, every part of her body was dripping, like a sponge that absorbed more than it can take. She changed her clothes and went back to bed, she threw her alarm clock at the wall and it was shattered into a thousand pieces and went to sleep, that was the best sleep that she got during her whole life. ~Zak.
